-neurodivergent ppl. i will try to accommodate your sensory needs however i can. my autistic ass hates the sound and feeling of the drill at the dentist. don’t want me to use an e-file? no problem. want me to use odor-free monomer? i got u. whatever it is — i’ll try my very best. i have lots of stim toys here too :) 

-picky clients. you can tell me when something isn’t up to your standards. i was theeee pickiest client before i became a nail tech, because if something wasn’t right, it wasn’t going to stop bothering me. i view your honesty as a gift towards my growth, and i’ll work hard to get it right.

-skin pickers, nail biters, etc. i have dermatillomania, and I’ve been biting and picking at my nails for over 30 years, despite countless attempts to stop throughout my life. i used to carry so much shame around my hands, and tbh, i became a nail tech for us <3 

-the quiet ones. i can honestly go days without saying a word to anyone. let’s go non-verbal together ^_^

-the yappers. feel like yapping? i’ll listen. i’ll join you. people have been yapping in nail salons for generations! i would be delighted to hear your stories.

-the queers. we can mix and match lengths, shapes, and textures however you want. i’ve been a bi/pan switch for almost 20 years now, so trust that i’ve been on all sides of the nail dilemma lol

-the mystics. with intention, we can turn your talons into talismans ~*~ 

-the chronically ill or disabled. hesitant to make an appt because you don’t know how your body is going to feel that day? don’t worry about it, happens to me all the time. i’ve got a laundry list of chronic health issues. If you’re not feeling well, your deposit can be transferred to your next appt, no Q’s asked. i have KN95s for us too.

-the Deaf community / ASL users. i took ASL classes for 6+ years (3 of them were with Bola here in Durham <3 ); my ASL is NOT perfect, but i will try my best and when i fail, i will fingerspell :) (or use text / pen & paper if that's better for us) 

-activists and organizers. i am forever yours in revolution.

-workers & laborers. your work holds our communities and ecosystems together. thank you so much. i will try to build your nails with your profession in mind so that they last.

-the researchers. i’ve spent the majority of my life working in academic research settings, mostly in biology (you can learn more about my science background here). few people know the struggle of how handling cryoboxes frequently can weaken your acrylics, but i do. i’ll also make sure your thumb nail doesn’t get in the way of your pipette’s eject button.

a night owl since birth, i have been fascinated by the moon and stars for as long as i can remember. i was lucky to grow up in the Chihuahuan desert, where the constellations are highly visible and the stories about them were abundant. i have been a student of astrology since ~2007.

i adore the process of integrating astrological energies into my manicuring services. we can look towards the skies together for support in which energies we should encapsulate into your set. having symbols on our hands that remind us of our purpose, our talents, and our goals can be very powerful.

More than anything, I am an eternal student. I’ve spent my life studying topics such as sleep, dreaming, psychology, biology, anthropology, molecular ecology, herbalism, espiritismo, and curanderismo — being sure to get hands-on experience under close mentorship whenever I can (you can see some of my teachers here).

My passion for nails began at the intersection of my love for ritual, symbolism, and reminding people of their power. I also enjoy sharing my love of herbalism with my clients, trying my best to integrate herbs into their manicures & pedicures whenever it makes sense.

I am completely fascinated by the ways ritual can influence our psychological and physiological state. For at least tens of thousands of years, humans have participated in rituals that shift the way we feel. The rituals of tending to our bodies are just minor examples — nevertheless, I aim to create an experience that lifts your spirit, as well as helps your hands and feet feel properly cared for.

The ways that energy can be obtained and transformed through our hands and feet are infinite, and the modalities are numerous. I am forever in awe of the possibilities, and Ceremonial Cosmetology & Symbolic Nails were created out of my devotion to further exploring them. I hope that by offering manicures, I can help make the lives of my community members feel a little less heavy, even if only for a little while as I care for your hands. I truly believe our hands hold so much power, and It is my honor to adorn them for you. I enjoy enchanting people’s hands and feet in ways that help them feel empowered to face life’s difficulties.
